From concept to reality

Based on our 40 years experience involved in the gemstone treatments we have concluded that the best design for heating up to 2 kgs per heating process to 1700oC of ruby-sapphire and other gemstones at 1700oC is to use the vertical muffle configuration. These furnaces are designed and fabricated in our workshop-laboratory in Bangkok based on the key parameters govern gemstone treatment (temperature, atmosphere and chemicals) after many years of research and experimentation.Take a look in our lab.

Our high temperature furnaces are designed to execute heating parameters provided by the operator for heat treating gems in various configuration modes. We do not sell the “know-how” technology for heating customer’s gemstones; the “know-how” technology must be developed by the end-user. We only sell our furnaces and related gem treatment equipment as per specifications, capabilities and limitations.
If you are novice in this subject I suggest to read and more importantly to understand my book book  “The Heat Treatment of Ruby & Sapphire and related books” before thinking to buy any of the equipment offered for sale. Likewise, for the potential, but seriously dedicated end-user, I suggest to take my course #610 offered periodically in Bangkok before buying any gem treatment equipment.

Our Furnaces

Model M80P-1700
1700oC vertical alumina tube muffle furnace 

Gemlab's Model M80P-1700 ("MAXXI MUFFLE"), all-in-one vertical muffle , bottom-loaded, furnace is the top of line with unparallel technology combined with superior longevity and incredible versatility designed by Ted Themelis for flawless performance. The furnace is composed of four integrated modules: a) Power Module, b) Furnace Module, c) Temperature control Module, d) Atmosphere control Module. The furnace is able to heat-treat one crucible filled with 3,380 cts of rubies-sapphires at any temperature to (1720oC optional) in air, reducing, oxidizing, , with or without additives, or in vacuum at 1500oC, as desired by the user. The furnace may be used without muffle to increase loading capacity.

Model M50P-1700
1700oC vertical alumina tube muffle furnace

Gemlab's M50P-1700 ("MINI MUFFLE") vertical muffle, bottom-loaded furnace is designed by Ted Themelis in response to the market demand for mini-size, desk-top, high temperature reliable furnace. Model M50P-1700 is the smallest possible vertical muffle furnace can be engineered which rubies-sapphires can be easily loaded-unloaded into/from the heating chamber via a manually operated mechanical elevator. The furnace is able to heat-treat one crucible filled with 1,140 cts of rubies-sapphires at any temperature to 1700oC in air, reducing, oxidizing or in vacuum, with or without additives as desired by the user. The furnace may be used without muffle to increase loading capacity.

Model V80-1200
1200oC & 1300oC combo (vertical tube & box)

Gemlab's model V80-1200 is a desktop, top-loaded, vertical muffle furnace, occupying minimum work space designed by Ted Themelis of unparallel versatility and impeccable design of its class not found anywhere in the industry. Any gemstone may be loaded and heat-treated for 1-2 hours (to 1100oC), days (to 1050oC) in air, oxidizing or nitrogen controllable atmosphere with or without chemicals additive. Also any gemstone can be heated in vacuum to 1000oC.

Model BV50-1200, B-1300

Gemlab's model BV50-1200 is a feather-weight, desktop furnace occupying minimum work space and it is the most economical furnace designed by Ted Themelis. This furnace employs unparallel versatility and impeccable design of its class not found anywhere in the industry. Depending on the configuration mode the furnace can be used as classic box furnace or with a vertical top-loaded alumnina muffle. tube. Any gemstone may be loaded and heat-treated for days, weeks or months in air, oxidizing, nitrogen controllable atmosphere with or without chemicals additives; also the gemstone may be heated in vacuum.
